Memento Review

Memento is a 2000 American crime thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Guy Pearce. The film is about a man named Leonard, who seeks to find the killer of his wife while dealing with his brain damage that causes him to have extremely short-term memory. To counteract this, Leonard tattoos clues onto his body and keeps notes. The story goes backwards in scenes, so the viewer can learn the true events of the film.

The film does an excellent job at mind-boggling the viewer despite the fact that it reveals the chronological ending at the beginning of the film and the gimmick of a man who cannot remember previous events is genius. Memento stands out among other revenge films thanks to it's clever and unique gimmick. The cinematography of the film and clever writing really do it justice, and so does the acting. Guy Pearce gives a convincing performance of a man who struggles to remember the events of the movie. Thanks to the twist at the end, Memento is a fantastic film.
